Contact UsDerek Mattson is a founding partner and Managing Director at Inverness Advisors. During the course of his career, Derek has advised clients on a wide variety of M&A transactions as well as both public and private financings. Derek began his investment banking career with Cowen & Company in the mid-1990s and was also head of TMT M&A for Friedman, Billings, Ramsey and Managing Director with Montgomery & Co. Earlier in his career, Derek was a principal in Allianz AG's global strategic development group in Munich, Germany. Derek received a BS degree from the University of Delaware, and an MBA degree from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Tom Peters is a founding partner and Managing Director at Inverness Advisors. He began his investment banking career in the M&A group at Dillon, Read & Co. in New York in 1987. In 1991, Tom joined Hambrecht & Quist in San Francisco to help start the firm’s M&A practice and has focused on M&A advisory work and capital raising transactions for emerging growth technology and healthcare companies since that time (H&Q was acquired by JP Morgan in 2000). Tom was the lead banker on numerous transactions at H&Q through the 1990’s and early 2000's. He actively identified and sponsored direct investments through H&Q Venture Partners and other investment funds. Prior to forming Inverness Advisors, Tom was head of Tech M&A at Cowen and also led the Communications & Digital Media Technology practice at Montgomery & Co., a firm he joined in 2005. Tom graduated magna cum laude from Washington & Lee University and received his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
Adam is a Managing Director at Inverness Advisors and leads the firm’s consulting & business services banking group. Prior to joining Inverness, Adam built several consulting organizations, including Major Oak Consulting which he sold to Verint Systems in 2013. As an entrepreneur who has founded, grown, sold and integrated businesses with acquirors, Adam brings a deep understanding of the challenges facing clients in the context of the sale process, including the emotional journey of a potential exit. Adam started his career in finance at Dun & Bradstreet, where his team received CFO magazine’s prestigious Reach Award for outstanding reengineering achievement. Adam graduated magna cum laude from theUniversity of Delaware with a BS in Finance and is a 20-year executive in the consulting industry.
Rob is a Managing Director at Inverness Advisors. Rob hasover 30 years of M&A, capital raising, and financial management experience.He began his career at Lehman Brothers where he was a Senior Vice President inthe M&A Group, he later co-headed the Technology Group at Kidder, Peabody,founded the M&A group at Cowen & Company and was a partner at SevenHills Partners. Rob was also the Chief Financial Officer of YipesCommunications and Xpert Financial. Rob received an AB degree from StanfordUniversity and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Dave is a Managing Director at Inverness Advisors. Prior toInverness, Dave spent 3 years as a Director of Merchant Banking at Burrill LLC where he focused on strategic advisory for life sciences companies. Prior to Burrill, he was Director of Business Development at CFD Therapeutics Inc., an antibody company "spin-out" from diaDexus, Inc., a molecular Dx company where Dave had previously worked. Prior to CFS, he was anAssociate on the Specialty Pharma Equity Research team at Deutsche Bank. Dave began his career in banking with Prudential Vector Healthcare Group. Dave holds a B.A. from Cornell University.
